February 9, 2020 The Word and the Power of the Spirit
/in 2020 Lord's Day /by Youhyun Chang[Luke 1:31-38]
God
is the Father.
He
sent the Word to the world (1 Jn 1:1)
and sent the Holy Spirit (Jn 20:22).
This was to fulfill God’s will (Jn 6:38-40).
God’s will was decided from eternity past (Jn 1:1).
He received this will as command and came to the world (Jn 10:18).
The Word came by the Spirit’s power (Lk 1:35).
Like firewood and fire harmonizing to be lit,
even if you stack God’s word like much firewood,
if the Holy Spirit does not work by power like a fire (Mt 12:28),
God’s will is not fulfilled.
Some people misunderstand the Law for God’s word.
The Law is the spirit of bondage (Rom 8:15).
God is the Word (Jn 1:1).
The Law is not the Creator.
Only God’s word can create (Heb 11:3).
Jesus is the Word who became flesh and came (Jn 1:14).
If the Holy Spirit comes upon Him, nothing is impossible.
That is why the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.
○ We pray a lot
for fullness to work by the Holy Spirit.
You must have God’s word to show His power.
○ Though you read a lot of God’s word,
if the Holy Spirit does not work, you are powerless
and God’s will cannot be fulfilled.
○ If you have ears to hear God’s word
and a humble spirit by the Holy Spirit and obey,
you can see great power done by God.
※ Our Lord and Savior Jesus came to the world
because the Word came
and the Holy Spirit overshadowed Him.

God’s Word is God (Jn 1:1). If we believe this and follow it, absolutely obeying His Word is our faith. However, people do not believe God’s Word is God. They merely treat the Bible as a religious book and think it is a tradition handed down from the past. Since they do not believe ‘God’s Word (Logos)’ is ‘God’, they are powerless. God’s Word does not live and work in them. The Word of God became flesh and came to the world. How great are His deeds? Because we believe this truth, we do not differentiate between God’s Word and Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus Christ is God because God’s Word became flesh. So we believe the Word and Jesus Christ are one. If God’s Word is living and active, Jesus Christ is indeed the same. Jesus Christ and God’s Word are not the least different. If Jesus has power, God’s Word has power. If God’s Word has power, the power of Jesus Christ is absolute. The Lord Jesus did not speak of His own accord, but God the Father clearly commanded Him what to say and do. He did exactly as commanded. Our faith understands Jesus Christ and God’s Word as identical. The Word spoke to us, but if the power of Jesus Christ does not appear, it is because people do not recognize them as identical. Just as a line is formed when the solar and lunar eclipse unite, God’s Word and Jesus Christ must form a line. If you separate the Word and Jesus Christ, this is not proper faith but religion. Many people have no power because they understand Jesus and God’s Word as different. If God’s power appeared by miracles and God says, “Be healed of your sicknesses”, it will happen exactly as said. If both Jesus and the Holy Spirit say the same thing, it will happen exactly as said. The Lord said, “Your sins are forgiven”. Though we have not heard this with our ears, if the words in the Bible say this, it should happen exactly as it says. When I perform miracles today such as healing and driving out demons, it is because I align God’s Word and Jesus Christ as one and obey. We preach that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again. He is God’s Son. We witness that He is our God. When the Lord Jesus resurrected and testified He is living, God’s Word came alive the same way and works together. The Word and Jesus Christ are one.
