September 20, 2020 Lord’s Day Service
Let’s be Fishers of Men
is eternal life.
sent Jesus into the world
to fulfill God’s will (Jn 6:38-40).
God’s will is that everyone who believes Him will be saved.
Jesus’ salvation redeems people’s spirits
and gives them eternal life.
In Old Testament times – amongst life, blessings, death and
curses in the universe – the angel (who was called Israel’s God)
gave them life and blessings (Deu 30:19-20).
Israel endured the world in Jehovah’s name
and were blessed, but none of them gained eternal life (Gal 3:1-5).
God only commanded them fleshly laws (Heb 9:8-10).
For the flesh’s sake and for one-time use,
Jesus made them catch fish and showed the signs of the wedding feast
and the five loaves and two fish. They were done once (Mt 14:17-21).
The way to catch fish, the way to make wine,
and the sign of the five loaves and two fish could be used only once.
He did not make them live on these their whole lives.
Jesus came to save those who believe Him
and give them eternal life (Jn 3:16).
He was telling them to be fishers of men (Mt 4:19-20).
〇 He made them obey for the flesh’s benefit
and made them have faith for the spirit’s benefit.
〇 He gave them the power to fish for people’s spirits,
not skills to catch fish.
〇 See the Lord’s calling.
Let’s save people’s spirits with the Lord and go to all nations.
We all received His calling.
※ Let’s not ask the Lord for skills to catch fish
but ask for power to save people’s spirits!
Let’s ask for power to do the impossible with the Holy Spirit’s help!
