Good Deeds

(Ephesians 2:10)

When we became new creations in Christ, it was the result of God’s new creation. God’s expectation towards His new creation is clear. He desires that this new humanity understand His grace, response to it, and live by doing good deeds.

1. Evidence of Becoming a New Creation
Good deeds are not a condition for salvation. Good deeds do not affect salvation. This is like when God created mankind on the sixth day of creation, since no human merit was involved at all. We were born again as a result of the new creation, so it is impossible for someone who has not been born yet to contribute to creation. Our performing good deeds is proof that we are born again by the grace of God.

2. With the Same Power That Made Christ Victorious
Good deeds have been in God’s plan since before creation. If we have been redeemed, we should respond to God’s grace by doing good deeds according to God’s will. We do not even have the ability to perform good deeds, but God provides us this ability. This is God’s power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead and lifted Him to heaven! This power saved us, and also enables us to do good deeds.

3. The Way to Guard Yourself and Save the Church
The essence of good deeds is love, and the basis of love is refraining from doing harm to others. Those who have received the Lord’s love do not do harm to others. This applies even more so with regard to the church. Doing evil or doing good towards the church are all spiritual actions. This is because the Lord will pay it back on the final day with eternal things. Good deeds are the fundamental nature of our faith. Let’s guard our spirits and save the church by good deeds. Let’s reveal God’s righteousness with the triumph of the church.
