Hope of the Glory of God

The Hope of Glory

(Romans 5:2)

God’s salvation is not temporary, ending when our circumstances change. God does not abandon those He has saved. He Himself holds them and leads them until they finally reach the glory He has appointed for them.

1. Toward Glory
On the day we believed in Christ, our salvation was firmly secured, like an anchor dropped deep into the sea. At the end of that journey, the glory of God awaits us. The holy, perfect, and radiant God intends to share His own glory with His children. He has already determined not only to rescue us from destruction, though we deserved His wrath, but also to transform even our lowly and corruptible bodies so that we may share in His glory.

2. A Secured Hope
Therefore, hope, rather than fear, belongs to the believer’s future. This hope is not a vague expectation we create by looking at our circumstances. It is a secured hope that God Himself has promised and poured into our hearts. The hope God gives always has a reality behind it. So when we think of that day, we do more than simply feel relieved. We can rejoice with hearts that are thrilled, proud, and overflowing with joy. Our end is not to be abandoned, but to share in the glory of God.

3. Glory Already Begun
The glory we will one day enjoy in its fullness has already begun within us. Even now, the Holy Spirit is transforming us into the image of Christ and leading us from glory to glory. Our obedience and devotion are not the price we pay to gain or preserve our salvation. They are the natural outward evidence of the grace we have already received. It may seem that we are the ones holding on to the Lord, but in reality, God is holding us firmly. Held securely in His hand, let us love the Lord, obey His leading, and press on toward that day of glory.
