Humility

(Ephesians 4:2)

The humble will be saved and those who are not humble will be left to perish in sin – this is the voice of the Gospel. Even if someone accepts the Gospel, if that person does not have humility, he will no longer advance in the Christian life. This is because the spirit without humility cannot accept God’s guidance.

1. A Sinner before God
Humility arises from being conscious of God. The more a person is conscious of God, the more he will realize that his power, reputation, experience and achievements are worthless. Since God is righteous and holy, a person who is conscious of God will discover just how unrighteous and filthy he is. Although we are Christians, sinfulness still remains. Consequently, we should never lose the heart of repentance until we meet with the Lord.

2. We Are Beneficiaries of Humility
Jesus Christ saved us by humility. He did not enjoy the status of power and wealth, but he had the status of someone who people despised. He appeared in weakness, and if people were willing, they could have killed Him. Redemption was possible for us because of His humility. Since we received this grace – if we now suddenly regard humility as worthless – how would the Lord feel when He sees this?

3. We Had No Humility
Just as the Lord’s humility saved us, our humility will save someone else. All creation will later unite in Christ, but the Church should first realize this on earth, and the most important thing for this is humility. We did not have humility. Therefore, let’s train each day to be humble. Let’s not give up controlling pride, but train. Let’s try to preach the Gospel and keep it. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble!” This is the core of the Gospel.
