Perfect Faith

(John 2:1-11)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is good.
He
gave His grace for the world
and helped them gain salvation (Rom 10:13-15)
by His goodness, pleasure and perfection (Rom 12:1-2).
Jesus became a Nazarene in the line of Abraham and David
and waited on His mother (Jn 2:1).
Jesus revealed the first of His good deeds at a wedding in Cana
by His mother’s request (Jn 2:3-5).
Before accomplishing the will for which He entered the world,
He revealed Himself by performing general miracles.
Though His time had not yet come (Jn 2:4, 17:1),
He did this for His mother and disciples who were with Him.
The disciples saw the signs the Lord performed and believed Him (Jn 2:11).
However,
faith that comes by seeing signs is elementary.
You should achieve mature faith (Heb 5:12-14).
Mature faith comes by listening to the word.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing is
by the words coming from the mouth of God (Rom 10:17).
○ Believing after seeing signs is faith without blessing,
but believing by hearing and without seeing is blessed.
You must believe the words of the Lord Jesus.
○ The Holy Spirit personally testifies
to the Lord Jesus’ words, and He is the Spirit of truth.
The truth becomes the faith which saves our spirits.
○ Jesus’ purpose for coming was to save people’s spirits.
The purpose of general miracles is not saving people’s spirits,
but they are good deeds for hardhearted people.
※ God is pleased when sinners are saved and come to Him,
for He will gain glory.
Let’s not use the grace of Jesus’ blood for the flesh but for the spirit.
