The Message of the Cross

(1 Corinthians 1:18-25)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is Justice.
He
sent His Word into the world. This is His love (Jn 3:16).
Sin and religion collide in the world (Mt 23:13).
Sin denies religion and religion mocks sin.
But they all become unrighteous (Heb 9:14-15).
Sin goes against God
and religion deceives about God (Heb 11:6).
Only their appearance is different, like two sides of a coin.
They walk on the way of unrighteousness, which God hates.
The message of the cross
is following God’s will for the sake of His righteousness.
Jesus came to fulfill this will for the sake of righteousness (Jn 6:38-39).
Therefore,
sin is disobedience and religion is pride (1 Cor 3:10-17).
Not knowing God’s righteousness is evil.
The world is ashamed of the message of the cross (Heb 12:2).
It is God’s wisdom and power (Acts 4:12).
“Since the One who said He would save was killed, it is a curse.”
It is spread that the message of the cursed cross is foolishness.
〇 Jesus commanded, “Whoever wants to follow Me
must deny themselves.
Then you will be My disciples.”
〇 The way to deny yourself is taking up your own cross
and fighting against unrighteousness until you shed blood.
The message of the cross is that sin dies and only righteousness lives.
〇 God’s law is different from people’s thoughts.
Jesus also obeyed righteousness and followed His will.
This is the message of the cross.
※ Your own righteousness is pride and religion.
Disobedience is evil and unbelief.
Only the message of the cross overcomes this.
