Treasures in Our Hearts

(Matthew 6:19-24)

Do not rely on treasures you have accumulated on this earth! If you are blinded by love towards treasures you have stored up, you cannot see heaven! No one can serve two masters, so you must decide who your master should be in your heart: God or the treasures on earth!

1. If We Dwell in the Covenant of God

If we make a covenant with God, we should reveal our trust, love and faithfulness towards God in every aspect of our faith. And the key factor in showing all of these is our attitude towards material possessions. Worldly people think that everything they enjoy is the result of their own efforts, but we can have different attitude towards wealth because we believe that all our possessions are provided by God.

2. Trust, Love and Faithfulness

We commonly say that we offer our material possessions to God. However, we should remember that the money we offer to God is also given by God. In other words, God gives us all material possessions and we offer them back to Him, and through this, He seeks to find our willingness to give our trust, love, and faithfulness to Him. In fact, this is the precious treasure that we possess in our hearts, and it is the reason that He enables us to live in eternal heaven.

3. We Should Place Our Hearts in Heaven

We must decide where to place our most valuable treasure on this earth or in heaven! Will you devote your trust, love, and faithfulness to money on this earth, or will you offer them to God? Of course, we need money to protect our bodies, however, we should not let our hearts be taken away by money and lose our trust, love, and faithfulness towards God. Just as we can use our whole body freely when our eyes are opened, we can fulfill a life perfectly following God’s will when our hearts are placed in heaven. Therefore, let us set our hearts on heaven. Let us keep the covenant we made with God, who promised to care for us eternally until the end.
