Be Holy Like God

(1 Peter 1:13-25)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is spirit.
He really exists.
As He has knowledge, wisdom and will,
He fulfills creation and judgement according to His will (Jn 1:1-4).
His word is spirit.
The truth is known by His word, and this is knowing God (Jn 6:63).
God and His Word are originally one (Jn 10:30).
Man was made from dust, that is, matter (Gen 5:2).
It is impossible for God and matter to harmonize (Mt 3:2).
But
God lowered Himself before man (Jn 1:14),
and we must approach this God – not by the flesh and its lusts (Gal 5:24) –
but approach Him by spirit.
This is what ‘Be holy like God’ means.
If we (who remain in the universe) equate God with flesh,
this denies the spirit (Jn 8:23).
When God speaks and acts, He does not go beyond the spirit.
We must be born again in spirit and belong to it (Jn 3:3-8).
This is holiness.
Since the Holy Spirit is a holy spirit, He helps our spirits.
〇 If we approach Him by the flesh, we cannot meet Him.
If we do not have holiness, we cannot meet the Lord.
Flesh gives birth to flesh, and spirit gives birth to spirit.
〇 When we repent and are baptized,
we are truly born again.
We throw off all the flesh’s lusts and are born again in spirit.
〇 If we try to find Him by the flesh, we will degenerate into religion.
We must find God by spirit.
Only those who are holy like God can meet Him.
※ Since God’s word is spirit, we must be holy by the truth.
We must be holy like the Holy Spirit is holy.
The person belonging to Jesus must be holy.
