Preaching the Gospel

(Ephesians 3:7-9)

Before the Gospel arrived, the Jews believed that salvation was given only to Abraham’s descendants. Therefore, the idea of ‘preaching about salvation’ did not exist. But if we assume that salvation can come to the Gentiles, preaching the Gospel is essential.

1. One with the Gospel
Preaching the Gospel is not just a means of conveying information. Preaching the Gospel is a central truth that requires obedient action, and it fulfills God’s eternal will. Believing the Gospel and preaching it are on the same level. Like part of one’s body, the contents of the Gospel show us that we should preach the Gospel. The Gospel was not given so that people could own it, but it was given so they could share it with others.

2. He Uses Sinners
The remarkable aspect of preaching the Gospel is that sinners are used for this purpose. For sure, everyone is a sinner, but what matters is whether you acknowledge God’s righteousness and acknowledge your own unrighteousness. Those who believe they are righteous obscure God’s grace, and they cannot bear fruit in preaching the Gospel. In contrast, a repentant person will reveal God’s righteousness, and so God’s power – which raised Jesus Christ from the dead and ascended Him to heaven – will work upon that person. This power transforms people who were children of the devil into righteous people who resemble God.

3. The Church Is the Agent
Preaching the Gospel is the responsibility given to the church. Accordingly, instead of thinking of how we should individually spread the Gospel with our own lips, we should think about how to do the work God gave us, so that the whole church becomes one and works systematically. Let’s suppress our greed and falsehoods by God’s power, and unite our strength so that the whole church becomes one and fulfills God’s dream.
