Jesus is Rejected in His Hometown
(Mark 6:1-6)
Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim
God
loves the Son.
He
sent His Beloved Son into the world
and commanded Him to do the Father’s will (Jn 10:15-18) –
that is, He came to save mankind from sin (Jn 6:39-40).
Though Jesus was born as a descendant of Abraham (Mt 1:1-17),
He is the Son of God and was not born of blood or the flesh (Jn 1:13).
His hometown was said to be Nazareth,
but His original home is heaven, which is outside hades (Jn 14:1-2).
Since the people of His hometown were born of flesh,
they could not know Him who was born by the Spirit and the word (Rom 8:5-6).
Therefore,
He essentially could not be welcomed by the world (Jn 8:40).
The world belongs to the devil and is under his control (Jn 8:44).
Heaven is filled with God’s will.
Jesus spoke the truth,
but the people of His hometown could not understand His word
and ignored Jesus due to His background and low status (1 Jn 4:5-6).
He was not rejected because He lacked God’s power.
The world rejected Him as they could not deal with Him (Jn 3:16-18).
○ Jesus could not perform any miraculous powers
in front of the unbelieving people of His hometown.
Miraculous powers and signs only follow those who believe.
○ Today, people judge by morals instead of the truth,
so the truth is rejected.
It is predictable that the truth is rejected.
○ We must recognize that the experience Jesus suffered is the truth,
and also endure rejection the same way.
Do not forcibly perform miraculous powers on those who hearts are not open.
※ It is like putting pearls on a dog
or putting it on a pig’s neck.
Let’s perform miraculous powers for households who open the door and accept blessings.
