Look at Him on the Cross

(John 3:14-18)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is love.
He
sent His Only Begotten Son for the world’s sake(Jn 1:18).
God’s Son was revealed to the world
to destroy the devil’s works (1 Jn 3:8).
He hung on the tree for this purpose (Jn 3:14-15).
It says, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Gal 3:13).
Why did He have to be cursed?
This is God’s love (Gal 2:20).
We deserved to be cursed (Gal 3:10-11)
but Jesus was cursed in our place.
Those who acknowledge this are believers
and are saved (1 Cor 1:18).
Those who are saved are not judged but gain eternal life.
Those who are judged are judged for their sin.
Mankind are sinners from the roots. This is called ‘original sin’.
Jesus was punished on our behalf
and wants to save our spirits and give us eternal life.
Jesus hung on the cross – this is our problem.
If we realize, believe and repent about this, we should be baptized (Acts 2:38).
〇 Baptism is to throw off the status as sinner,
unite with Jesus (who hung on the cross) and gain the resurrection.
Those who participate in the resurrection gain eternal life.
〇 If you have nothing to do with Him who hung on the cross,
you have already been judged
and your spirit will enter the lake of sulfur in hell.
〇 Baptism is a sign of salvation. The spirit, soul and body
– the whole person – is a sign of being saved from sin.
The Holy Spirit seals and guarantees this.
※ Those who belong to Jesus confess this
and receive the Holy Spirit’s testimony.
Those who receive the Holy Spirit are filled with His gifts.
