Lay up Treasures in Heaven

(Matthew 6:19-24)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is the Father of all things.
He
is the Creator (Jn 1:2).
The kingdom and the power and the glory (Mt 6:13)
are in heaven (2 Cor 4:4),
and it is full of eternal life, blessing,
love and compassion (Jn 6:68).
The creation is within Hades
(also called the universe) (Gen 1:1-2),
and the things in creation will surely disappear.
Compare all the everlasting things of
heaven (Heb 1:2)
with the fading creations of the world (Mt 6:19).
Therefore,
do not lay up your treasures on earth,
but lay them up in heaven (Mt 6:20).
Treasure is understood to be wealth, like money,
but real treasure does not leave your heart.
The world’s money cannot stay with your heart,
as it is here today and disappears tomorrow (Lk 6:24-26).
We belong to creation because we were born with flesh,
but we dwell in God’s kingdom through
rebirth (Jn 3:3-8).
The Lord is the Heir of all things (Heb 1:2).
You can find wealth to lay up on earth,
but the world is empty and changing (Mt 6:28-29).

◎ The offerings of those born of the flesh are like Cain’s offering,
but the offerings of those born again are like Abel’s offering.

◎ Do not doubt God even a little.
He is trustworthy and eternal.

◎ Our spirits must be governed by the Holy Spirit,
and deeds performed through the Holy Spirit will lead to heaven.

※ Do not think God takes things away.
He does not take away but accepts and deposits them.
My wealth will stay with my heart forever in heaven.
