The Dwelling Place of God

(Ephesians 2:20-22)

“I will diligently pursue my faith life and accumulate more spiritual credits. This way, when I stand before the Lord, I can receive even greater glory. Going forward, I must engage in more meaningful actions. I cannot depart from this world by simply serving others from the sidelines.”

1. The Temple Being Constructed
If Christians entertain such thoughts, they may not yet fully grasp their true identity. Christians are parts of the temple that is continually being built. The temple serves as God’s dwelling place. The task of completing it is a work that God accomplished through Christ, and it is a mission that the entire church should collectively undertake. To fulfill this mission, our responsibility is to faithfully and sincerely carry out the roles entrusted to us.

2. Stones Fitting Together
In the construction of a temple, an abundance of stones is used. These stones are fitted together to form a building, and when these buildings are interconnected, they constitute a temple. To fulfill this process, the stones must discard their own original shapes and undergo continuous refinement. These well-trimmed stones fit harmoniously with one another, and with the placement of the keystone at last, all the work is completed. In the same way, we must persistently grow in Christ until we attain the full measure of His fullness. We should not be stones that boast about our individual shapes but, instead, harmonize with other stones and fulfill our respective roles to ensure the ongoing establishment of the building.

3. Saints who Desire for the Success of the Church
We, as those who have received opportunities from God, should not aim to become prominent figures, but instead, we should fulfill our roles to the best for the success of the church. God will execute the judgment on the last day based on our faithfulness, not individuals’ merits. The Lord has already taken responsibility for our salvation; therefore, let us not be concerned about other things; instead, let us carve and refine ourselves so that we can fulfill a dwelling place where God can dwell without any deficiency. Let us grow in all things into Him, who is always our keystone, the Lord, by practicing the truth in love.
