The Supper of Jesus

(Mark 14:22-26)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is eternal.
He
gave Jesus Christ to the world (Jn 17:3).
Jesus did not come to the world to be served,
but give His life and serve (Mt 20:28).
He is the One who was planned and sent since eternity (Eph 1:9),
and the Word finally became flesh and appeared (Jn 1:14).
The words of the covenant preached by the prophets (Lk 1:70-75)
appeared to the world as Immanuel (Mt 1:23).
He experienced the world for thirty years (Lk 3:23)
– and as He continually said during His public life –
the day for His crucifixion and death came (Mt 16:21).
Since everything in the world
was prepared for Him (Ps 100:3),
the time came for the Lord to bid farewell
to everything that He ate, drank and rode in the world.
While feasting with His beloved disciples in an upper room,
He prophesied that He would never again drink from the fruit of the vine (Mk 14:25)
and would only drink it new in heaven.
This means He will resurrect by the Holy Spirit.
○ Jesus has spiritual food to eat
and it is God’s will.
It is the command given for Him to fulfill. (Jn 4:34).
○ After He resurrected by the Holy Spirit, He eternally breathed (Jn 20:21-22),
offered the disciples the same spiritual food as His own
and said, “Receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.”
○ Fullness of the Holy Spirit, unlike eating and drinking worldly food,
is eternal food for eternal life
and is fulfilling God’s will (Jn 7:37-39)
※ The Supper was an evening meal. After He finished His worldly food,
the dark night passed, and He rose again by the Holy Spirit
before dawn. Let’s stay with the Lord!
