The Holy Spirit Comes in Jesus’ Name

(John 14:25-31)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is good.
He
found and loved mankind first (Jn 3:16).
Consequently,
He sent His Son (who was in God’s bosom) to the world (Jn 1:18)
and revealed His word through Him (Jn 1:14-16).
His word is eternal life (Jn 6:68).
Once Jesus finished the work He came to do in the world,
He ascended to heaven and asked the Father (Jn 16:7-8)
to send the Holy Spirit, who is the Advocate.
On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were gathered in an upper room (Acts 2:1-4),
and the Holy Spirit came on them fully
as tongues of fire, along with a sound like a rushing mighty wind.
Jesus gave joy to those hearts that were sad after Jesus left (Jn 14:18-21).
When the Holy Spirit came, He gave power and gifts (1 Cor 12:7),
and His work is to
lead people to understand about Jesus’ words and deeds
and to teach the truth (Jn 16:13).
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and the Teacher of truth (Jn 14:26).
Those who believe through the Holy Spirit are sure of their testimony (Rom 8:9).
○ Our faith is in the blood shed on the cross,
the promised words of Jesus,
and the truth that the Holy Spirit testified to.
○ Those who receive faith have the peace of heaven,
they are free from the law of sin and death,
and the law of the Spirit sanctifies them.
○ After Jesus went to heaven,
the devil – who is the prince of this world – acts more desperately.
But the comfort of the Holy Spirit is here.
※ Let’s rejoice that Jesus ascended to heaven.
Then the Lord will dwell in us by the Holy Spirit.
Although we die, we will live, and those who live and believe will be eternal.
