Jesus Prayed to Preach the Gospel

(Mark 1:35-39)

Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim

God
is the Almighty.
He
showed His power to the world
and did this through Jesus Christ (Acts 10:38).
Jesus
is the Son of God, but He prayed at all times
for the sake of His relationship with the Father (Jn 11:40-42).
Prayer is communication with God (Jn 14:20-21).
Even while Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit,
He went to a secluded place before dawn
and prayed there (Mk 1:35).
He also said to the disciples,
“Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also,
because for this purpose I have come forth” (Mk 1:38-39),
and He went throughout Galilee while preaching the Gospel
and driving out demons.
When the disciples asked where this power came from,
He said, “There is no other method except prayer” (Mk 9:28-29).
Prayer is not a tool for begging (Mk 6:5-8),
but it is asking the strength to do the Lord’s work.
○ When Jesus prayed in agony and more earnestly,
angels strengthened Him.
The prayer that is assisted by angels is faith.
○ If we say that we have faith, and do not pray,
God will not control us one-sidedly.
We can be with God only by prayer.
○ Our Lord’s purpose is to preach the Gospel.
When the Gospel is preached, miraculous powers and signs must follow.
Preaching the Gospel, signs and miraculous powers are one.
※ He said, “These signs will follow those who believe.”
Demons were driven out and the sick were healed.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today.
