Jesus Fulfilled the Prophecy by His Saving Death
(John 19:31~37)
Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim
God
is perfect.
His words
are perfect and He accomplished it all (Jn 1:1-2).
God’s word is His will (Jn 6:39),
and He accomplishes all of His will without fail (Heb 4:12-13).
Though no one has seen God (Jn 1:18),
though we cannot see Jesus because He already went to heaven (Jn 16:16-17),
and though we cannot see the Holy Spirit (who came into us) (Jn 14:16-17)
– the Father dwells with the Son (the Word) (Jn 1:1),
and since the Word dwells with the Holy Spirit, it is the truth (Jn 16:13).
The truth will certainly achieve everything.
In this way, God spoke about His will by the truth,
the One who came as the Word achieved it all (Jn 19:30),
and the Holy Spirit testifies to this (Jn 16:14, 15:26).
Believing that everything was created by the word is faith.
When He performed the Creation, He accomplished everything
by the word alone (Gen 2:1).
Since God’s word planned it in heaven,
it was all completed on earth (Mt 6:10).
Jesus went to heaven, but the word remains on earth
and completes everything by the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:20, Mk 16:20).
○ The scripture was fulfilled when
Jesus said, “It is finished”, on the cross and passed away.
○ The scripture was also fulfilled when
the soldiers did not break Jesus’ legs after He passed away (Ex 12:46).
God’s word will all be achieved.
○ We live by faith that God’s words were achieved by the Son
and are still being achieved by the Holy Spirit.
Since they are being achieved, we also obtain hope by faith.
※ We should, therefore, confirm the Lord’s deeds
and God’s will by the Book of God’s word,
and we should believe the Holy Spirit’s deeds through the scriptures.
