Jesus Glorifies God by Obedience
(John 17:1~8)
Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim
God
is the Father.
He
sent His beloved Son to the world (Jn 7:28).
This was because He loved the world so much (Jn 3:16).
The Father loves the Son (Mt 17:5)
and the Son loves the Father.
Similarly, God loves those who are saved through His Son (1 Jn 4:9),
for the Father loves those belonging to the Son
in the same way that He loves the Son (Jn 17:10).
In order for Him to give us eternal life, we must understand
and believe the relationship between the Father and the Son (Jn 17:3).
The Father and the Son’s relationship is love (1 Jn 4:8).
Therefore, we should believe that God the Father and the Son are one (Jn 10:30).
If people claim to love God (Jn 5:23)
but do not honor the Son, they do not love the Father (Mk 7:11),
and if people claim to love the Son
but do not honor the Father, they do not love the Son.
The Father’s will is the Son’s will (Jn 6:39-40),
and the Son’s will is the Father’s will.
The Holy Spirit goes out between the Father and the Son (Jn 15:26).
○ When Jesus said He was the Son of the One who sent Him,
it was so we could believe the Son like we believe the Father.
We must believe the Father like we believe the Son.
○ The Holy Spirit testifies about the Father, just as He testifies about the Son,
and He testifies that the Son and the Father are equal.
The Holy Spirit’s testimony is the truth.
○ Believing this truth is eternal life.
We should believe the Holy Spirit
like we believe the Father and the Son.
※ If we go against the Holy Spirit, we go against the Trinity.
As this sin cannot be taken lightly, it cannot be forgiven in this age
or the age to come. It is a fearful thing to blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
