November 3, 2019 The Blood and Life (John 6:52-59)

Sermon Outline

God
is living and does His work.
He
sent His word and does the work He promised (Acts 1:4-5).
He surely fulfills His revealed promise through the Son.
Therefore,
He said, “Eat My flesh”
and “Drink My blood.”
If you eat the Lord Jesus’ flesh, you will gain eternal life.
If you drink the Lord Jesus’ blood, you will gain life (John 6:53-55).
No matter how godly you are,
without relying on Jesus’ merit, there is no salvation.
This is our faith.
We eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood.
Just as man eats and drinks to live,
Jesus must dwell in you through the experience of faith.
For example: if you believe in Jesus,
you should proclaim to the world what you believe.
This is a command.
Eating and drinking this holy flesh and blood
is proclamation (1Cor 11:23-27).
○ By treating the Lord’s Supper as a ritual,
you can show yourself as religious. But this is not faith.
Faith is to proclaim.
○ If Jesus’ flesh and blood dwells in you,
you should proclaim them.
Rely on the Holy Spirit and proclaim them.
○There is no life in practicing doctrines.
The Lord’s Supper is to be obeyed.
Proclaim it until the Lord surely returns.
※ Though we learn the Lord’s word,
if we do not practice it, it is disobedience and unbelief.
The person who practices it obeys it. This is faith.
