The Bias of God (John 6:22-40)

It is God who give us our daily bread. The people of the world do not acknowledge this and only give credit to their own efforts and capability. Of course, God sends the sun and rain without distinguishing between the righteous and the unrighteous. But if we are truly God’s children, we must be different from them. We must acknowledge that God gave us the things we needed until now and gives to us even now. This is the same, whether our circumstances are good or bad.

1. The gateway to the spiritual domain

Acknowledging this is the same as understanding our salvation through Jesus Christ and entering the gateway into the spiritual domain of God’s kingdom. God has a positive bias towards those who give thanks for what they receive and glorify Him. These are the people God sees as worthy of enjoying the eternal things He prepared (Lk 19:17).

2. Faith that puts thanksgiving into action

Some people claim they have such faith, but cannot offer even a fraction of the wealth given by God. They say, “God knows my heart”, but the thing God recognizes is not people’s thoughts or heart, as they frequently change (1 Jn 3:18). When we respond to God’s grace and shift our thanksgiving to action, this is how He reckons each person’s faith (Rom 2:6).

3. A holy bias

Let’s testify to our faith by shifting thanksgiving into action (Js 2:20). If we certainly acknowledge God, who gives us wealth, it will become clearer that He saved our spirits, and we will have clearer confidence about the eternal future we will build with Him. Since God gives us our daily food, let’s make Him have a holy bias towards us by shifting thanksgiving into action.
