Those Who Believed but Did Not See Are More Blessed
(John 20:24~29)
Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim
God
endures forever.
He
sent the Word to the world
so that He could be heard and believed (Rom 10:17).
Faith should come solely by hearing (Mk 11:15).
The phrase ‘believing after seeing’ is not right (Jn 20:25).
If we do not have the faith God is looking for (Jn 4:21),
no one can be saved (Rom 10:13-15).
No one has seen or can see God (Jn 1:18),
for God is spirit (Jn 4:24).
Therefore,
God sent His word so that He could be heard and known (Rev 2:7).
Jesus Christ is the Word, and the Word is the truth (Jn 1:1).
‘The Word’ means every personal trait and activity of Jesus Christ.
If you depart from this Word, but try to find Him who is invisible
and go astray, this is superstition and mysticism (Lk 24:5).
Jesus said, “Do not believe from seeing,
but believe what you hear.”
The Word of God came to reveal and speak.
After the Lord ascended, we cannot see or hear Him,
but the Holy Spirit entered our hearts and speaks directly (Acts 5:32).
◎ We receive the Holy Spirit and believe those who preach by the Holy Spirit.
This is called ‘the Gospel’ and ‘the truth’.
◎ Jesus scolded a person who did not believe
those who had seen Him rise again.
You should hear the Gospel and believe God and Jesus.
◎ What we preach today is very sound.
You should not believe with your eyes but hear with your ears and believe.
The truth is not seen but believed.
※ We hear this from sermons on the Lord’s Day every week.
Since He said, “Whoever has ears, let them hear”,
we should hear what the Holy Spirit says.
